Yoga: Why improvements grind to a halt!

Many yoga students reach a point where improvements grind to a halt.

For some, they end up feeling lost and inadequate.

This is when the injuries start creeping in as we desperately try to move past the hurdles holding us up.

Knee, Hip, shoulder and lower back pain are common issues in all styles of yoga, particularly for those of us 45 and over.

To move past these hurdles, something has to change; the question is, what?

The answer is simple, you have to go back to basics...

Communication of Yoga

Yoga is simply the process of communication.

Your thinking mind is having a conversation with your older primaeval mind-body.

The conversation is about movement.

Movement is life

We all know movement lies at the heart of great physical and mental vitality and health.

We also know that if anyone repeatedly does a movement badly, they overstress the mind-body, ending up with joint and muscle pain.

Qualities of Good Movement

So what are the qualities of good movement that strengthen and enhance the mind-body without unknowingly damaging it?

That’s a very easy question to answer, particularly when you factor in cutting-edge research into movement, kinematics, neurology, and biomechanics.

The number one quality of all good movement in life is when the body is dynamically engaged OPEN, without TENSION.

An OPEN body is one where all the joints and the spine are in a decompressed, lubricated fluid state.

Inner Stability Strength

Your stability strength is made up of fast-acting inner muscles. These muscles ensure the joints are open and the spine is decompressed during movement.

Your core inner stability strength underpins all good movement, be that playing tennis, baseball, golf, running, boxing, swimming, dancing or yoga.

However, in order to fully access your core stability strength, your body must not be holding onto TENSION.

Body Tension

Tension in the body is made up of tight muscles that should be relaxed.

TENSION locks away your quicker-acting stability strength.

TENSION is like a car's hand brake. No matter how powerful the car, if the hand brake is on, your not going anywhere.

How to effectively move the body

In order to move the body with grace and ease, you must target an equal amount of effort on releasing TENSION as well as on engaging your inner core stability strength to OPEN out the body.

They are opposite interconnected forces.

This means the conversation your thinking mind must be having with your older primaeval mind-body is purely about being RELAXED and OPEN.

You will have to rewire your circuitry to do this with equal effort on strength and relaxation, 50/50. Once done, all your movements in life with become fluid, stress-free, pain-free and extremely powerful.
